Buying Leads Gives YOU No Control over Your Business

Are You Driving Your Business Like A Car With No Steering Wheel?

Each day, I listen to people who contact me for help in generating leads for their business. And the one thing I see in common most times is their "well nothing else works so I guess I'll buy some leads" mentality! So why is that? Why would one want to buy leads?

I then compared it to something that I think most people can relate to... driving. And we all know that the driver of the car has the control of the car.

Now remember, the car is a system all in itself. It doesn't need you to tinker with the engine every day, or put the tires on everyday, or assemble the body of the car everyday. It was designed to run on it's own... yet, it needs one thing: an operator.

Now imagine getting in your car, starting the car, getting into gear, pulling out of the driveway and going on about your merry little way. You probably never even thought about how that system runs and all you have to do is give it gas and step on the accelerator to go.

Here's the challenge. What if your steering wheel was missing? Now again, imagine getting in your car, starting the car, getting into gear, pulling out of the driveway and going on about your merry little way. If you are thinking in the right direction, you would instantly realize that doing those tasks without a steering wheel is IMPOSSIBLE!

Why?

BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE MACHINE!

So how does all of this relate to marketing and leads? Well buying leads is just like driving with a disconnected steering wheel. You have no control, and in business, what you don't control, you run greater risk for. See in buying leads, you don't control how they were generated, where they came from nor the offer that was given to encourage them to opt in to the list. So after you pay $7-$10 for each real time opt in lead and then give that lead a call, you are baffled when the person tells you they have found something else! And you probably think... "but you just opted in 10 min ago.."! LOL

Buying leads keep you in a position of no control. When you can generate your own leads, you learn the skill of control that makes money. You learn how to find your ideal prospect. You learn how to discover their needs and wants. You build a relationship with that lead. You learn how to encourage the opt in by giving something of value related to what your primary product is you are offering. As a result, you have a much higher targeted lead, who more than likely needs what you have and if your phone skills are even "just ok"... you can usually make the sale.

Moral of the story, stop giving up control thinking you are going to experience critical mass by buying leads. What most experience is a decreasing bank account with nothing to show for it. Learn how to generate your own leads and watch your business skyrocket!!
