Bloggers Checklist

Below are some of the crucial items you should have on your
Blog. Take a look at this list and your Blog and see how
you measure up. I can tell you that I did it myself and I
had to create an action plan to fix my own Blog.

You see, just because I know what needs to be done doesn't
mean I always have time to implement it myself.

It is like the shoe cobbler's children going to school with
their shoes falling apart. I am so busy helping clients,
I don't have time to work on my own things.

The same may be true for you. You are so busy but you know
you want to, actually you need to, Blog. So you start it
and don't necessarily have everything in place.

That's OK. The key is to find out where you are lacking
and create an action plan so you can take steps towards
getting everything in place,

So, here is your checklist. Do you have:

A strategy in place? Do you know why are you Blogging?
What are you hoping to accomplish? Do you know how often
you have to Blog, what types of posts you need in order to
accomplish your objective?

A posting schedule? Ideally you should have at least 2 new
posts a week, and up to 5. Less than 2 is too little, and
over 5 is often too much (unless you are a great writer and
have lots of news and information to share, so you aren't
just writing fluff).

A comment policy? Do you moderate? If so, how long does it
take to approve comments.

An 'About Us' section? Since Blogging is about connecting,
sharing information and creating dialog to form
relationships, you need to be sure to tell people who you
are and what you are all about. Including contact
information is a good idea

A Blogroll? Be sure to include NON company links. Point
your readers to sites/blogs that you think THEY would be
interested in reading. Yes, you can add your website, but
please mix in some non-company sites as well to show people
you are truly interested in being a resource for them.

RSS subscriber buttons? Give your readers a way to
subscribe to your Blog, via a feed reader. Feedburner is a
quick and easy way to get this done.

Photos, graphs or charts to create visual interest.

Videos to engage users.

Personality and opinions so people feel they are really
hearing your voice and not just some regurgitated industry
news.

Links back to relevant pages on your website.

A custom header graphic that doesn't take up too much space
but shows that your Blog is uniquely yours and not just
some out of the box Blog platform that has no
customization. Some people choose to have their header
match the look and feel of their main site.

4 Tips for Better Article Marketing Success

Article marketing is hands down on of the best ways to get targeted,
ready-to-buy traffic to your website. Not everyone has success with article marketing, however. In this article, we’re going to look at what separates winning article marketing strategies from ones that don’t work out as well. Here are four tips you can use to take your article marketing right to the bank!

Tip 1: Write your articles like sales letters. Now, you don’t want it to sound like a late-night infomercial, but you do need to understand that your article is more than just information. Your goal is to get the reader to click on your link, either in the article body or in your bio box.

Tip 2: Write a headline that arouses curiosity and makes people want to read your article. In general, readers find your articles via a search engine search.

In other words, when they decide if they want to read your article, they can’t see the whole thing. They just see a headline and also a description. You want your headline to be a call to action. Something that’s going to interest people.

Tip 3: Make your articles at least 400 words long. If you want to publish your article on a lot of article directories (and you should), it needs to be at least 400 words long. A lot of directories don’t publish articles that are shorter.

This makes total sense. A directory makes money through traffic.

They want readers to feel like they learned something, or at least made their lives better, by reading their articles. An article that’s less than 400 words just seems a little unsubstantial.

Tip 4: Make your bio box look like it’s part of the article. At the end of an ezine style article, there’s an author’s bio box. Although you can try to put links back to your website in the body of the article, not all directories allow that. The place to put your link is in the bio box.

Don’t think of the bio box like it’s an afterthought for your reader. Your bio box needs to fulfill the same function that a call to action does on a sales letter. This is so important, let’s spend some more time on it.

This is what you don’t want (but what you usually see).
“Joe Johnson is a career animal lover who has spent countless hours learning the ins and outs of the lives of ferrets.”

Okay, that was meant to be funny. But really. Looked at from your reader’s point of view. They are interested in themselves, not you. Unless you’re the inventor of the South Beach diet or someone with as much authority in your given niche, who you are and what you’ve done is secondary.

Buying Leads Gives YOU No Control over Your Business

Are You Driving Your Business Like A Car With No Steering Wheel?

Each day, I listen to people who contact me for help in generating leads for their business. And the one thing I see in common most times is their "well nothing else works so I guess I'll buy some leads" mentality! So why is that? Why would one want to buy leads?

I then compared it to something that I think most people can relate to... driving. And we all know that the driver of the car has the control of the car.

Now remember, the car is a system all in itself. It doesn't need you to tinker with the engine every day, or put the tires on everyday, or assemble the body of the car everyday. It was designed to run on it's own... yet, it needs one thing: an operator.

Now imagine getting in your car, starting the car, getting into gear, pulling out of the driveway and going on about your merry little way. You probably never even thought about how that system runs and all you have to do is give it gas and step on the accelerator to go.

Here's the challenge. What if your steering wheel was missing? Now again, imagine getting in your car, starting the car, getting into gear, pulling out of the driveway and going on about your merry little way. If you are thinking in the right direction, you would instantly realize that doing those tasks without a steering wheel is IMPOSSIBLE!

Why?

BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE MACHINE!

So how does all of this relate to marketing and leads? Well buying leads is just like driving with a disconnected steering wheel. You have no control, and in business, what you don't control, you run greater risk for. See in buying leads, you don't control how they were generated, where they came from nor the offer that was given to encourage them to opt in to the list. So after you pay $7-$10 for each real time opt in lead and then give that lead a call, you are baffled when the person tells you they have found something else! And you probably think... "but you just opted in 10 min ago.."! LOL

Buying leads keep you in a position of no control. When you can generate your own leads, you learn the skill of control that makes money. You learn how to find your ideal prospect. You learn how to discover their needs and wants. You build a relationship with that lead. You learn how to encourage the opt in by giving something of value related to what your primary product is you are offering. As a result, you have a much higher targeted lead, who more than likely needs what you have and if your phone skills are even "just ok"... you can usually make the sale.

Moral of the story, stop giving up control thinking you are going to experience critical mass by buying leads. What most experience is a decreasing bank account with nothing to show for it. Learn how to generate your own leads and watch your business skyrocket!!
